“Holy sh*# I just did that!” A very true and dangerous addiction

You know that feeling you get after you accomplish something you never really thought possible?

The one where either you worked against your negative internal self dialogue so hard that it all seemed impossible but you pulled it off?

The one where you threw a Hail Mary and scored for the win?

Those are the moments that make us feel alive. Like we are invincible. The ones we earn the right to celebrate our pants off.

They are also the moments that keep us fuelled to pull it off again and again.

And again. And ‘just one more time’.

These are the moments that also can bring out the ugly. The fierce competitor in us that bites, and tries to win at all costs.

It’s a time in your life where you are there to outperform others, to show the
world, and yourself, your capabilities To validate your abilities and get the impossible done. To be the last one to leave work and the first one to show up.

These accomplishments can be incredibly satisfying. But be wary of these besieging victorious moments.

Your own inner gremlins call this dedication, hard work and perseverance.

Your body calls this burnout.
